Young women battle, bloody scene involved biting faces; both go to hospitals, then jail

WILDWOOD, Fla. (TND) — A crowd gathered around two young women, early in the morning, and police arrived to find one “sitting in a chair in the front yard, complaining of a bite to her face.”
The arrest report said Nolancia Jeresea Johnson’s mother “was using a towel to apply direct pressure to [Johnson’s] chin area to control the bleeding from the bite.“[A second officer] temporarily relieved [the mother] of applying pressure to the wound.“After equipping rubber gloves, I relieved [that officer] and applied direct pressure to [Johnson’s] bite wound using the towel,” the officer wrote.
Just before 8 a.m., paramedics arrived at the home in Florida, “removed the towel over [Johnson’s] face and I observed a bite wound approximately 2 inches in circumference on the left side of [Johnson’s] chin.”Johnson told the officer Ta’Leria Bivins was the person who bit her. Then, Johnson was taken to the hospital.
The officer mentioned “a group of bystanders who witnessed the incident [but] wished to remain anonymous.”However, one person “later sent me a video recording of the incident,” which the officer used to describe in detail what had happened. They were “arguments between multiple people,” he wrote.
Johnson, who suffered the bites, was yelling, ‘Hit me hoe, hit me, hit me, hit me, hit me ... b___ a__ get out of the car.’
Bivins was driving a white SUV, circling around Johnson’s home, while Johnson “appears to attempt to open the front passenger side door; however, due to it being locked, she is unsuccessful and falls backwards.”

Johnson then reaches into a car “and grabs what appears to be a butter knife. I could hear [Johnson’s mother] telling [Johnson] ‘don't do that’ multiple times.”But she “swings the knife in the air while yelling ‘get out’ multiple times.”Bivins gets out “and the video then points to the ground.”
The officer described “yelling from multiple people” and eventually, Johnson “throws the butter knife away from everybody and onto the ground.”Johnson moves towards Bivins “but the white SUV is in the way of showing what happens next.”
The person “recording the incident is heard stating, ‘they fighting, they fighting,’ and moves closer to the altercation to be able to record the incident.”
The two young women were now “engaged in a physical altercation.”Six seconds later, “[Bivins] is seen biting [Johnson’s] face.”Four seconds after that, “[Johnson] is able to stop [Bivins] from biting her, and throws a punch at [Bivins] while grabbing her hair.”They both “fall to the ground. [Johnson] gets positioned on her back while [Bivens] gets on top of her.“The physical altercation continues and [Bivins] is observed biting [Johnson's] face again, in the same spot.“During this, it also appears that [Johnson] bites [Bivins] back on her left cheek.“They hold this position of biting each other until [13 seconds later] when bystanders intervene and [12 seconds later] pull [Johnson] out from under [Bivins].”
Finally, “[Johnson] kicks [Bivins] two times on the left side of her abdomen. After that, they become temporarily separated.“[Johnson] walks to the front of the apartment and grabs a stool.
“[Johnson] then charges towards [Bivins] with the stool and strikes her with it. The physical altercation continues, and the fight lasts” about 10 seconds longer.Next came some interviews.
According to the arrest report, Johnson’s mother said Bivins “drove to her residence in a white SUV and threw a Gatorade bottle at [Johnson] while yelling obscenities.SEE ALSO:
“[The mother] stated that [Johnson] threw the bottle back at [Bivins].”
Then, “[Bivins] accelerated and attempted to hit [Johnson] with her vehicle.”
Officers went to the emergency room to speak with Bivens and got two stories.
“[Bivens] originally stated she was walking home from her friend's house [address].“[An officer] asked [Bivins] to confirm if she was walking home or driving home, to which [Bivins] replied, ‘I was walking home.’”She said she was walking past Johnson’s home when Johnson “ran to the road with a knife. [Bivins] stated that she wanted to run from [Johnson]; however, was afraid that she would get stabbed in the back.
“[Bivins] stated that [Johnson] then threw the knife and swung at her, so they began fighting.
“[Bivins] stated someone broke up the fight and advised she did not remember how she got home and was possibly picked up by her friend.”
Officers left the room for a moment and when they returned, “[Bivins] stated that she wished to retract her earlier statements of her walking to her residence. [Bivins] stated that she was driving and not walking. [Bivins] stated [Johnson] ran in front of her moving vehicle, wielding a knife, while [Bivins] was attempting to drive home.”She claimed she got out when Johnson’s mother tried speaking with her, and that’s when Johnson attacked her.
Finally, officers went to another hospital emergency room where Johnson said the incident began at about 5 a.m. when she and her cousin were driving, and “Bivins] came to the vehicle and hit the driver.
“[Johnson] stated she attempted to grab the pepper spray from the key ring which was in the ignition, and accidentally turned the vehicle off.“[Johnson] advised it was at that time [Bivins] saw her and snatched her wig off her head.”Then, there was “teasing and harassing [and] both parties began throwing items at each other and spitting towards each other.“[Johnson] explained that [Bivins] hit her with the SUV, causing her to fall. [Johnson] then retrieved a knife”
“[Johnson] admits to biting [Bivins] back once.
“[Johnson] stated after the fight had broken up, she noticed she was bleeding profusely from her face. [Johnson] said she then sat in the front yard and waited for medical attention.”
The officer spoke to other people and decided, “Out of all the statements provided by involved parties and witnesses, none of them corroborate exactly what was observed in the video.“Per the video, [Johnson] and [Bivins] engage in mutual combat.“Fear could not be established for either party, as they both willingly engage in the physical disturbance.”That was early on the morning of May 4.
The officer presented the case to the state attorney's office to decide whether to prosecute.
They got arrest warrants and were charged with disorderly conduct. Both were served on May 16. Bail was set at $1,000 each.
Bivins, 20, spent more than two hours in jail until her release.
Johnson, 18, was locked up for almost three hours.
