The Oregon Lottery says the ticket worth $1.326 billion was sold in Portland. The ticket was purchased on Saturday, April 6.

Someone in Oregon also won a $50,000 prize, the lottery said.

“I want to congratulate the winner on this life-changing moment. No one in Oregon has ever won a prize on this scale, and it’s very exciting for our staff and players,” said Oregon Lottery Director Mike Wells. “Even if you aren’t holding the winning ticket, all of our players support programs and services statewide that receive Lottery dollars.”

Saturday’s drawing was the fourth largest Powerball jackpot in the game’s history, the lottery said.

The jackpot was the eighth largest among U.S. lottery games.

Officials tell KATU News the ticket was sold in Northeast Portland in the 97218 zip code.

While the jackpot id $1 billion, it only has a cash value of $621 million if the winner chooses to take a lump sum rather than an annuity paid over 30 years, with an immediate payout followed by 29 annual installments. The prize is subject to federal taxes, while many states also tax lottery winnings.

This is a developing story and KATU News will be updating this story when more information becomes available.
