Pitt's 2017 football schedule features seven home games

PITTSBURGH -- Pitt released its 12-game football schedule for 2017 on Tuesday and it includes seven homes games.
The Panthers’ schedule also features eight teams that advanced to bowl games this past season, including four that finished in the Top 25.
Under coach Pat Narduzzi, the Panthers went 6-1 at Heinz Field last season, matching their best home record since the stadium opened in 2001.
Pitt will play five road games starting with a Sept. 9 matchup against rival Penn State at Beaver Stadium. The Panthers’ 42-39 triumph last year over the eventual Big Ten champions was hailed as perhaps the most exciting game in the history of the storied series.
Narduzzi has directed Pitt to eight regular-season wins in each of his first two years, something the Panthers had not achieved since 2008-09.
In his two seasons as Pitt head coach, he owns a 16-10 overall mark and 11-5 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
“There is always great anticipation from players, coaches and certainly fans when it comes to seeing the new schedule,” Narduzzi said. “With the games finally announced, I can promise you it will be highly visible throughout our practice facility this offseason.
"We want it to be a constant reminder of the twelve challenges and opportunities we have this fall.”
