PennDOT issues travel restrictions ahead of weekend winter storm

2nd UPDATE |
PennDOT has also issued Tier 1 vehicle restrictions for Interstate 80 in Jefferson and Clarion counties.
UPDATE |
PennDOT has announced temporary speed limit restrictions on I-80 due to the severity of the storm.
Officials said PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel but those who must head out will see speeds reduced to 45 mph on the following highways:
- Interstate 80 between exit 97/DuBois-Brockway to exit 147/Snow Shoe
- Interstate 99 between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Interstate 80
- Route 22 from State College to the Perry County line.
According to a press release, Route 22 westbound is also currently closed between the Arch Rock Road exit and Lewistown due to a multiple vehicle crash and that drivers are asked to postpone unnecessary travel.
Officials said if people must travel, drivers in this area should seek an alternate route as this closure is expected to be at least two hours.
