One injured in shooting at Erie High School

Police are investigating a shooting at Erie High School that injured one person Tuesday morning.

Officers were called for a shooting victim just before 9:30 a.m.

One person was shot, is in good condition and has been taken to the UPMC Hamot for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Erie Police. The hospital's emergency department is currently on lockdown.

The shooting suspect is not in custody, school officials told Erie News Now around 10:40 a.m. Erie Police Deputy Chief Mike Nolan said he could not comment on the suspect or say if that person was in custody.

Police also could not provide any additional details on where the victim suffered gunshot wounds or the weapon used. Nolan said there is no active threat.

The building was on lockdown until students could be dismissed. The process started just after 10 a.m. Parents are being asked to report to the back parking lot to be directed to the dismissal area. Buses are also on site to take students home.
