Missing hunter in Elk County found safe

SPRING CREEK TWP (ELK CO.), Pa (WJAC) — According to a release from Ridgway State Police, officers received a call just after 9:30 p.m. Friday night from a man reporting that he had lost his friend in a wooded area between Bear Creek Road and Hallton Ridgeway Road in Spring Creek Township, Elk County.

The man told police that he had last seen his friend around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon and was supposed to meet up with him around 4:30 p.m, but his friend never showed. He attempted to locate his friend on his own but was unsuccessful.

Authorities dispatched Elkland Search and Rescue and Ridgway Fire Department to conduct a grid search of the area.

The missing hunter was finally located in the wooded area early Saturday morning around 2 a.m, he was uninjured and in good health.
