Johnstown Catholic schools announce rebranding
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Johnstown area catholic schools say they are "rebranding."
Officials with the Bishop McCort Catholic School announced Wednesday that the district will rename Divine Mercy Catholic Academy's east and west campuses as Bishop McCort Catholic Elementary East and Bishop McCort Catholic Elementary West.
Bishop McCort Catholic High School will remain under the same name.
School officials say they think this decision will strengthen their schools and bring stability to the school systems.
"We believe that our elementary school combined with our high school for the sake of the name will be recognized more across the country. We have a lot of people that move in and out of the Johnstown area and they will know the brand, the McCort brand, that M. When you see that red M, you think of Bishop McCort high school. Now you think of Bishop McCort Catholic Academy,” said principal Tom Smith.
School officials did not specify when the name change will officially take place.
