State police in Somerset County said charges have been filed against a man wanted for several banks robberies in two states.

According to police, 57-year-old Charles Gibson Jr. is suspected of robbing banks in Maryland in mid-December. He was spotted in Somerset Township a day after the alleged robberies, but evaded police custody.

Police were alerted to Gibson's location a second time after he attempted to rob a bank in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Media outlets report Gibson entered a bank with a note that said he had a weapon and demanded cash. According to Maryland authorities, Gibson robbed the previous banks in the same fashion.

State police have not said what types of charges have been filed against Gibson and have been unable to locate him since the last incident. No bank robberies have been reported in the area where he was last seen.
