18-year-old dies in ATV accident in Blair County

GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP – A Hollidaysburg Area High School senior and standout softball player died in an ATV accident Friday morning.
Police said Mikayla Focht, of Duncansville, was a passenger on a 2015 Yamaha Raptor ATV being driven by Trenton Bilak, 23, of Everett, when the ATV struck a deer on the road around 4:15 a.m. along Knob Run Road, near Blue Knob.
The impact caused the ATV to overturn, which threw both Bilak and Focht from the ATV.
Police said Bilak fled the scene. Focht was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither Bilak nor Focht were wearing helmets, police said.
An autopsy was performed on Focht and the results are pending. Police said the investigation is ongoing with the Blair County District Attorney’s Office and the Blair County Coroner’s Office.
Focht was a senior captain for the Lady Tigers and had committed to play for St. Francis University in Loretto in the fall.
She was a first-team all-state performer in 2016 and an honor roll student.
